Wentworth is proud to support Macmillan Cancer Support
13 May 2010
Our very own Marketing Director, Sarah Watson and her husband Rob are amongst a team of brave triathletes from all over the globe who will take on the ultimate challenge in May 2010 to raise money for Sophie's Legacy and its nominated charities.

The challenge is a gruelling 53km Mountain Triathlon which will take place at Ullswater in the Lake District. Competing team will race against each other in a time trial format, across three disciplines – paddling, hiking and cycling, all to raise money in memory of Sophie Drury.

You can support Sarah and raise money for the charity by purchasing Stephen Darbishire’s 'Summer Lunch Overlooking the Lake'. We will donate 5% of all sales from this puzzle to Sophie's Legacy.

You can also donate more to your chosen charity by visiting Sophie's website.

We wish Sarah all the best and pray she comes back in one piece so she can start work in our Christmas puzzle range!

More about Sophie’s Legacy

Sophie Drury was just 34 when she died of ovarian cancer on April 5th 2008. Sophie lived with cancer since being diagnosed with the disease aged 26 and never allowed it to dictate her life. Everyone who met Sophie was inspired by her and so Sophie’s Legacy was established in her name and has already raised £107,000 since last year.

Ovarian cancer is dubbed the ‘silent killer’ due to the difficulties in detecting it an early stage. Despite the recent research that has contributed to a better understanding of the disease there is still no accurate screening test for a definitive diagnosis. The number of women with ovarian cancer is expected to rise over the next five years to an estimated 172000.

One of the three charities which will benefit from the money raised through Sophie’s Legacy 2010 Mountain Triathlon Challenge will be North West Cancer Research Fund, a Liverpool-based charity which funds research into the causes of cancer and how it spreads.
